The royal town of Kadaň lies approximately 7 km away from Klášterec. The town recorded a great flourish at the time of Charles IV, who granted the town a royal charters. The most important landmarks in the town include the Franciscan Cloister with the Church of Fourteen Saint Helpers, the Town Hall, the Church of the Beheading of St John the Baptist, the Church of the Saint Cross Rise, but also the city fortifications, the Holy Gate, the tower of Žatec Gate and the castle, situated on the edge of a steep rocky slope above the River Ohře.

This former statutory town lies at the foothill of the Ore Mountains, near the border with Federal Republic of Germany, about 18 km from Klášterec. Number of historical monuments, that make up the monument zone came down in the town center. The Square of 1st May in the town center has undergone a reconstruction which returned it almost to its original historical form and you will find here a wide range of churches and other monuments, including burgess houses with arcades. The most valuable building in the town is the Church of St. Catherine, built in early Gothic style.

Town to the border with Federal Republic of Germany, originated in the 12th century on an overland trade route. The graveyard church with a Neo-Renaissance style portal, the Church of All Saints from 17th century and the secession Evangelical church from the beginning of the 20th century are situated in the town. Town architecture, such as the Baroque house and the Towh Hall from the 18th century is also interesting.
